Unearthed poster: Nasum at The Shrine

A few years ago, I saw this poster on Instagram or something and wrote to the guy who posted it and asked for a copy of the image. Although we exchanged some emails I never got anything more than a low-resolution image. Until now, when I got the actual poster in the mail.
Historically speaking, this was the fourth Nasum show in Stockholm of a total of eight (suburbs included). It was held at The Shrine, October 25, 2002. The venue was this round building near Slussen in Stockholm, and it had had a number of different names during the years, most well-known was Kolingsborg. Now, Kolingsborg is very famous in Swedish metal lore as Messiah Marcolin of Candlemass reportedly once doom danced through the stage floor. Might be an urban legend, who really knows? Kolingsborg is also very famous in Swedish film history as the stand-in for the club "G" in the classic youth movie "G - Som i Gemenskap".
As you can see, the bill was a real smorgasbord of different bands all with punk as the common denominator. The mummified Henry Fiats Open Sore headlined, crust legends Skitsystem opened and hardcorerockers Nine played before us. An interesting mix for sure.
I have two very clear memories from this evening. One is that we premiered a brand new song before it was recorded. I think that's the only time that happened during the entire Nasum history. We – which at this point in time were Mieszko, Jesper and I – were working on what would become the "Helvete" album, and for some reason we chose to play one song live. It didn't have a name or any lyrics, and ultimately the song became the title track, which only ended up on the Japanese CD (still without any lyrics).
The other memory is from backstage. I was wearing my Hellnation t-shirt for the show, the one where they ripped off the classic Motörhead snaggletooth design with "Kentucky" at the bottom. That led to a discussion with the Nine guys as they were booked as the support act for a number of Motörhead shows after this show. "Maybe we should do a t-shirt like that", someone said (probably Benis). I don't know why that moment got stuck in my mind since then, but it really did!
Thanks to Robin Zander for sending the poster and unlocking some memories from nearly 25 years ago!

ABOUT THE VAULT
Nasum might not be a performing band anymore or existing in the normal sense, but the legacy remains under the sharp supervision of the founding member Anders Jakobson. THE NASUM VAULT is the "umbrella" for a number of projects collecting information and items from the Nasum history.
The first project was The Vault Blog, introduced in 2014 as a place to share "interesting, semi-interesting or uninteresting things" from the Nasum Vault - stories, images and what ever. The second project was The Rare Nasum, audio goodies published on Bandcamp - rehearsals and live shows. Side by side with these two projects, there is The Official Nasum YouTube Channel where video oddities are posted.
This page is the collective portal for The Nasum Vault, grouped in the three different time periods of the band. This page will be updated when new stuff is added, and you can always help the Vault to grow by supporting The Rare Nasum - see more info at the bottom of the page.
